Regional flights developed in Poland

Regional  flights

Eurolot is to launch connections between Gdańsk, Wrocław and Kraków in July. More connections should be expected soon afterwards, “Rzeczpospolita” reports.
At present Eurolot flies only from and to Warsaw on the commission of Lot, Polish state air carrier. Direct Gdańsk – Kraków and Gdańsk – Wrocław daily connections will be launched on July 1. Tickets will be sold via Eurolot’s new own reservation system.
The new connections are a large success of regional airports fighting with the domination of Warsaw airport and Lot. Eurolot, an experienced carrier, is expected to develop its network of regional flights – probably on routes from Kraków to Szczecin and Poznań. The Association of Regional Airports headed by Jan Pamuła (also the president of the Kraków Airport) is planning to launch a tender for servicing the network of domestic flights. A flight from Warsaw to any domestic airport takes 60-90 minutes. A train ride from Warsaw to Gdańsk, Wrocław, Szczecin takes 6 hours. Plane tickets purchased in advance are to cost PLN 150-200 – the same as train tickets.
Domestic flights between Gdańsk and Kraków (and seasonally between Wrocław and Warsaw) are already provided by Jet Air. Direct Fly was the only air carrier with a fairly diversified offer of domestic flights. Since April 2006it launched 56 domestic flights from 4 airports. The prices varied from PLN 119 to PLN 549. The business closed after a year, “Rzeczpospolita” notes. (Source: Rp.pl)
