Japan Airlines Corp. (JAL) has prohibited bulldogs from flying. The reason given by the airlines authorities is that the stress of flying could result in the death of this sensitive breed. The ban comes after the suggestion of the veterinarians, who think that this decision will be for the better of this breed of dogs.
At present, Japan Airlines Corp. (JAL) will not permit the passengers to bring along a bulldog for boarding an international or domestic flight, according to airline spokesman Hirokazu Inoue. Previously, the flight journey used to prove fatal for the poor dogs. However, Japan Airlines Corp. (JAL) has not released any official figure regarding the number of in-flight death of bulldogs. The animals have flat noses, which makes it difficult for them to adjust with the unstable temperature in the aircraft and thus is unsuitable for them. This sensitive breed of dogs also cannot endure the noise and the vibration in the flights. Bulldogs are far more sensitive than any other breed of dogs.
The decision was made prior to the summer traveling season, as many vacationers are likely to travel with their pets, which are mostly cats and dogs. Japan Airlines Corp. (JAL) does not allow pets inside the cabin, but checks them in as special baggage and keeps them in an air-conditioned compartment in exchange of a fee.
